The Sound of Success: Weeks of rehearsals pay off Inter-House Group Singing Competition

30th September, 2024

The Inter-House Group Singing Competition, held on 30th September at Don Bosco High School, was one of the most eagerly awaited events of the year, highlighting the school's dedication to nurturing talent and teamwork. Taking place in the school's multi-purpose hall, the competition featured students from all houses, united in a lively showcase of musical skill and house spirit. This event was a celebration not only of vocal talent but also of camaraderie, teamwork, and a shared passion for music.

Each house was represented by a group of students, selected through internal auditions within their respective houses. The four houses delivered spirited performances: Bose House with Try Everything, Gandhi House with Wake Me Up, Nehru House with Wellerman, and Tagore House with a mashup of Proud Corazon and Un Poco Loco. These performances were evaluated by a distinguished panel of judges, including Mr. Dominic, Mr. Alistair, and Mr. Nevil, who typically consist of music teachers, alumni with musical expertise, and occasionally guest judges from the local music scene.

The competition included different musical genres, ensuring a wide variety of performances. Both students and teachers dedicated weeks of preparation, managing their academic responsibilities alongside daily rehearsals. Judging was based on key criteria such as vocal quality, creativity, synchronization and teamwork, stage presence, confidence, body language, and audience engagement.

In the end, Tagore House and Bose House shared first place, each scoring 104 points, leaving no second-place winner. The Inter-House Group Singing Competition remains a testament to Don Bosco High School's commitment to holistic education, where artistic expression is held in equal regard to academic achievement.
