Don Bosco celebrates Independence Day with Patriotic Fervour

“Freedom in the mind, faith in the words, pride in our soils. Let’s salute the nation on our milestone Independence Day!”

The Tricolour flags that fluttered around in our campus on 15th August 2022 symbolized the honour and patriotism we at Don Bosco fervently feel towards our country. The event was set in motion as the Chief guest Mr. Prajwal Sakardhande was escorted by our NCC Cadets to hoist the flag followed by the National anthem. A large number of dignitaries, students, parents and staff members from KG to PG on Don Bosco Campus were in attendance. The event had an august gathering of our Rector & Principal Fr. Avin Carvalho, Provincial-elect and Principal of the HSS Rev Fr Clive Telles, Fr. Joaquim Lobo, director of the college & Dr. Cedric Silveira, Officiating Principal of the college and Managers of all sections of Don Bosco, Panjim.

The program began with a soul-stirring mellifluous song sung by our high-schoolers stimulating us to reflect on our country’s glorious yesterday while we yearned for a better tomorrow. Actions speak louder than words not only in yester years but in the present day too was the address given by our Chief Guest, the Colossal acts that culminated to our independence cannot be glorified enough he said. The presentation of the memento to the Chief guest was followed by the speech given by Anant Sharma which was a throwback on the sacrifices of those gone before us. The students of Don Bosco High School paid tribute to our heroes leaving none unsung. The upbeat shadow dance synchronized with the ‘josh’ pulsating in our young Indians captivated our hearts. The chief guest Mr. Prajwal Sakardhandes’ speech emanated true connotation of patriotism. It was an encapsulation that accentuated the uniqueness embedded in the spirit of our country which was appreciated by the audience. A heartfelt vote of thanks was given expressing the gratitude towards all for making the special occasion a memorable one.
