Today, at Don Bosco High School, Panjim we celebrated the feast of a remarkable young saint, St. Dominic Savio. Despite his short life on earth, St. Dominic's exemplary virtues and unwavering dedication to God continues to inspire us all. We commemorated the feast day with the Mass celebrated by Rev Fr Joel D’Souza for our students. A time in prayer in class was designated for the past fortnight with prayer cards given to serve as reminders of his virtues and were distributed to the school community to be taken home as keepsakes. Students were encouraged to participate in service project of contributing stationery for the less fortunate students beyond our school , motivated by St. Dominic Savio's dedication to helping others. After Mass creative activities were organised to delve into the life of this extraordinary young man to learn valuable lessons from his journey of faith.
As a student at the Oratory of St. John Bosco, Dominic Savio became a model of virtue and piety, setting an exceptional standard for his peers. His unwavering commitment to holiness and his deep faith in Jesus made him a beacon of light and hope for all who encountered him. His spiritual journeys inspired our theme for the year “Together, we rise” encouraging us that we too, can make a difference in the lives of those around us by radiating God's love through acts of kindness, compassion, and selflessness. As students this year we focus on the theme and learn from his example by embracing humility, respect for our peers and teachers, and obedience to authority that figures in our lives.
Let us pray for the intercession of St. Dominic Savio, asking him to guide us in our journey of faith, to inspire us to live virtuous lives, and to help us become instruments of God's love and mercy in the world. On this day a very special prayer service was conducted for our students of other faiths enabling them to be respectful, dutiful and disciplined.
May the feast of St. Dominic Savio be a source of influence and renewal for each one of us.
