Independence Day 2024: Don Bosco Campus Panjim celebrates I-Day with great fervour

On Independence Day 2024, Don Bosco Campus Panjim was a vibrant hub of patriotic spirit and celebration. The day began with a flag hoisting ceremony led by our esteemed Chief Guest, Dr. Roque Gabriel Wiseman Pinto, Professor and Head of the Department of Pathology at Goa Medical College and the former Dean of the Faculty of Medicine at Goa University.

accompanied by our Rector, Rev. Fr. Tamatur Cardozo, and our Headmaster, Rev. Fr. Avin Carvalho. The NCC Cadets stood in formation as the oath was administered to them by Fr. Avin Carvalho, adding to the solemnity and pride of the moment, as students, faculty, and staff gathered to witness this symbolic act. As the national flag unfurled against the sky, the air was filled with the powerful strains of the national anthem, evoking a deep sense of pride and unity among all present.

Following the flag hoisting, a series of cultural programs unfolded, showcasing the rich diversity and talent among the High School students. Students performed the traditional dance, sang a melodious patriotic song, the Headboy Bosco Carvalho delivered a stirring speech that highlighted the significance of independence and the sacrifices made by freedom fighters. The event also featured the mime that dramatized and brought to life important moments from India’s struggle for freedom, reminding the audience of the country's enduring values and heritage. Dr Wiseman Pinto in his speech extended his heartiest Independence Day greetings to all encouraging students on the occasion to celebrate one’s homeland, patriotism and of course freedom. He also reminisced his days at Don Bosco High School years ago.

The campus was decorated in the tricolors of the national flag, with banners and posters adding to the festive atmosphere. The energy and enthusiasm of the students were palpable as they participated with great zeal, reflecting their love for the country.

The celebration was not just a tribute to India's independence but also an opportunity to foster a sense of national pride and unity among the students. The day concluded with a heartfelt vote of thanks and a collective promise to uphold the values of freedom, democracy, and peace. The Independence Day celebration at Don Bosco Campus Panjim was a fitting tribute to the nation, filled with reverence, joy, and a renewed commitment to the nation's progress.
