PHOTOGRAPHY WORKSHOP
The Filmit Club organised a photography workshop on 'The fundamentals of photography'. The session was conducted by Aneek Gaude and Vallan Fernandes, both avid photography enthusiasts, who shared valuable insights and techniques with the participants.
PHILATELY TALK
The Philately Club and Heritage Club attended an inspiring talk and philatelic exhibition conducted by Dr. M R Ramesh Kumar, an eminent philatelist whose passion for stamp collection and postal history has inspired enthusiasts across the country. Dr. Kumar shared his remarkable journey as a stamp collector and highlighted how postage stamps serve as miniature windows into history, culture, science, art, and national heritage. The exhibition showcased an impressive collection of stamps, first-day covers, postal stationery, and other philatelic material from India and around the world.
ENGLISH HANDWRITING COMPETITION
Organised for Middle School, the competition highlighted the importance of precision, patience, and pride in one’s written work. The entries were judged based on various criteria, including legibility, letter formation, spacing, consistency, neatness, spelling accuracy, and correct use of punctuation. Congratulations to the winners: David P, Chirag M, Keith D, and Tanay B of Class V; Chris R, Calvin W, Yatharth N, and Rutvik U of Class VI; and Trevor M, Susom M, Arnav K, and Sahil S of Class VII.
FEAST OF ST. DOMINIC SAVIO
A solemn Holy Mass and a special prayer service was celebrated on the Feast of St. Dominic Savio, the patron saint of youth, bringing together students, staff, and the Salesian community in thanksgiving and reflection. Through the readings, homily, a short skit and prayers, the students were encouraged to imitate his virtues of kindness, obedience, prayer, and joyful service.
SOLO SINGING
As part of the Feast of St. Dominic Savio celebrations, GEN-Z Voices, a solo singing competition was held for the High School students. One of the highlights of the competition was the heartwarming camaraderie among the finalists. Contestants readily provided musical accompaniment for one another, demonstrating that the true spirit of music lies not only in performance but also in supporting and celebrating each other's talents. An impressive display of talent, the winners were: First Place: Castiel V (Class 9), Second Place: Enoch B (Class 9), and Third Place: Yohann L (Class 8).
ANNUAL RETREAT
Class 10 students attended a one-day retreat at Old Goa, offering them a valuable opportunity for prayer. Through interactive sessions, group activities, and discussions on spiritual strength, relationships, time management, values, habits, and decision-making, the retreat encouraged personal growth and meaningful learning. The experience concluded with students returning inspired to face the future with renewed faith, confidence, and a commitment to living by strong values.
SPELLING BEE
Middle School’s brightest students celebrated their love for words last month as part of the feast celebrations. The competition witnessed students showcase their vocabulary and confidence through a series of challenging rounds. The winners were Haniel F, Aleto F, Keith D, Aarush S and Crisben D of Class V; Atsel S, Zacharias G, Chris F and Melfran R of Class VI; and Nabhish V, Shaurak K, Darryl C, Sahil M, Aditya B and Soumit S of Class VII.
MENTAL MATH COMPETITION
The Mental Maths Quiz Competition saw students of Classes V, VI, and VII showcase their exceptional skills involving speed, accuracy, logical thinking, and problem-solving in Mathematics. A preliminary written round tested students' mental calculation abilities within a limited time. Based on their performance, the top twelve students from each class qualified for the finals, representing their respective houses. Tagore House of Classes V-VII secured the first place while Gandhi House secured the second place for all three classes as well.
INTER-CLASS FOOTBALL
Class X students participated in the Inter-Class Football Tournament and a Football Tie-Breaker Competition in July. More than just sporting events, the competitions gave the students an opportunity to create lasting memories with their classmates during their final year of high school. In the Inter-Class Football Tournament, Class XC emerged as the champions, while Class XA finished as the runners-up after a series of exciting and closely contested matches. The Football Tie-Breaker Competition, held as a separate event, was equally thrilling. Class XD claimed the championship, with Class XB finishing as the runners-up.
